Nes Artist Residency

2022年夏、アイスランドでの滞在制作の機会を頂き現地の土と原料を使い制作を行いました。初めて訪れたアイスランドの大地のエネルギーの力強さと空の大きさ、自然の厳しさを肌で感じ、今までにない表現が生まれました。
手びねりで成形し、低下度焼成を行いました。１回目は薪、２回目は電気の２通りの窯を焚きました。どちらも全く違った表情を見せてくれました。
陶芸の表現にとっての火との関わりの重要性を改めて感じた貴重な体験でした。

In the summer of 2022, I had a residency in Skagastrand in the northwestern part of Iceland.I had an artist residency in Iceland, and I worked to used the local clay and materials . It was my first time to visit Iceland, and the strength of the earth's energy, the big sky, and the severity of nature gave me a new expressionism.
I tried to make by hand forming and fired at a lower degree. I fired two types of kiln, the first time with firewood and the second time with electricity. The works in the two kilns had completely different expressions.
It was a valuable experience that reaffirmed the importance of the relationship with fire for the expression of pottery.
